We started from Bangalore at 8.30 am and took the SH17 (Kengeri - Bidadi - Ramanagara - Channapatna - Doddamallur) route. We stopped over for breakfast near Nagarbhavi (before Kengeri) and reached the Aprameya and Navaneetha Krishanan Temple around 10 am. The roads were very good and it was cloudy so it was a great start to our day out .

After Darshan at the temple we proceeded to Channapatna for some Wooden Toy shopping. I was having a tough time making choices (there are so many to choose from) at the toy showrooms and bought some toys for my kid and also some for me ( for this year's Golu / Navarathri ).We proceeded to Kanva reservoir which is at a distance of 8 kms from Channapatna. There wasn't much water in the reservoir, it was more like a lake; It was quite nice and we felt we should come back to this place after the rainy season to see it in full flow. There are quite a few birds in the vicinity. I am no ornithologist, but I managed to see atleast 5 different types of birds in the time we were there. We took a by-lane ( just a mud road) which took us very near the water.We enjoyed a picnic lunch near the lake and just dabbled our feet in the water. There were more adventurous picnicker's nearby who were enjoying a good swim.

We started back to Bangalore by 1 pm and realised maybe we could have covered some more places nearby. We passed by a misleading signboard at one point which said cauvery fishing camp 32 kms which lured us into a road by a village. We thought we can play it by the ear, so with no preparation ( map / Directions) we proceeded on this road and after travelling for about 5-6 kms we asked someone for directions. We were told that we needed to travel another 50-55 kms just to reach the fishing camp and all the way back again or travel back to bangalore through kanakapura - an unfamiliar route for us. So, we decided to turn back at that point for we wanted to reach bangalore before 6 pm.
All in all, it was a good trip and it can be easily covered in half a day. I would definitely recommend this place and it would be much better after the monsoons starts.
